Thank you Hillsdale College

Hillsdale_College_CampusI had a great time with the Faculty and students in  the Music School at Hillsdale College, Michigan, last week.  The Music School is learning centre of academic and artistic excellence, under the fine stewardship of Department Chair, Prof. Jim Holleman.

From Musicals Back To Beethoven

After the enormous fun of teaching theatre students at California State University (Fullerton) last week, I have the great privilege this coming week to visit and teach at Hillsdale College (MI) courtesy of an invitation from the distinguised American conductor and educator, Prof. James A. Holleman (Music Department Chair), and Mr. Brad Blackham (Director of Keyboard Studies).

Having spent the last three days in New York working on preparations for Victor Kazan’s and my new Musical, The Mapmaker’s Opera to be produced at this year’s New York Musical Theatre Festival my time at Hillsadale will be very welcome, to concentrate on orchestral music and hopefully taking some of Asst. Prof. Mathew Fuerst’s composition students.  You can check out Mathew’s music at his website.  This is a very cool composer!

Short and to the point today.  Spending time in New York does that to you!

Take care,

Kevin
